Artist’s Book Launch & Panel Discussion

K.U.K. Kjøpmannsgata Ung Kunst
22.04.2024. 18:30

Welcome to the launch of "It’s a small day," an artist’s book by Lili Zaneta, accompanied by a panel discussion with the artist featuring Jolene van der Kaap-Deeder and Gustav Svihus Borgersen.

"It's a small day" is a photo-text diary that explores the importance of seemingly insignificant, ordinary moments. Using photographs of everyday surroundings combined with the artist's own notes from a two-year period spent working between Norway and Croatia, the book explores ways we seek balance in our lives, and examines our fear of mistakes, vulnerability, and the unfamiliar. The book´s unique format features two books bound by the same cover, conveying an intersecting narrative told through both photography and text.
"It’s a small day" is a long term photographic project. Following its exhibition as a photo and text installation in “Tide” at Trondheim Kunstmuseum Gråmølna, Zaneta worked to adapt the experience of the work into an artist’s book.

The book is printed in an edition of 50 and signed copies will be available for purchase during the book launch.
The panel discussion features Jolene van der Kaap-Deeder, Associate Professor in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology at NTNU, Gustav Svihus Borgersen, an art historian, critic, columnist, lecturer, and non-fiction writer, along with Lili Zaneta herself, a visual artist and photographer. The discourse will draw inspiration from the book while expanding into broader discussions surrounding artist books, scientific and artistic research, and the significance of positive emotions. The talk is scheduled to last for 45 minutes.
